Family first: a decision to close meal preps 4 me

With a mix of emotions, we want to announce that is officially closing its doors. While our hearts are full, there is also a tinge of sadness in this decision. Over the past few months, we have been grappling with our own happiness. It became apparent that we had been prioritizing monetary gain over everything else, and even the things we held dear were starting to suffer as a result.

When our children were born, we made a promise to ourselves to be present for every moment. Unfortunately, over the past 2.5 years, we have slowly veered away from that promise. As our company grew, our work-life balance shifted more and more towards work. The distance between us and our loved ones increased steadily, and we despised the fact that we were living with our dream family, yet barely spending time with them due to being tied to the computer, kitchen, or truck.

The challenges of the food business exacerbated our struggles. We have immense respect for career food entrepreneurs as they navigate fluctuating commodity prices and the difficulty of finding reliable kitchen staff. The constant fluctuations in margins, compounded by the liability of potentially making someone sick, weighed heavily on us. The fear of the impact it could have on us, both psychologically and financially, became a persistent worry.

This journey has taught us the importance of time and the finite nature of life. We will never be able to reclaim these years, this youth, or our children’s youth. While we made it and achieved success, we must ask ourselves at what cost. Our family and happiness cannot be sacrificed. It is time to put family first.

Making this decision was not easy, but recent weeks have shown us the fulfillment and joy that focusing on our tech consulting business, DJing, building DJ booths, and marketing can bring. It has reminded us of what accomplishment truly feels like and how to reconnect with our loved ones.

We are immensely grateful for the thousands of individuals we have served, the lives we have touched, and the full bellies we have nourished within our community. From the numerous five-star reviews to the heartfelt letters of gratitude, we are forever humbled by the acceptance and support our community has shown us.

So, what comes next? Crystal and I are taking our talents to Put-in-Bay for the summer, returning to the activities that brought us joy before marriage and family responsibilities. It will be a summer of reconnection and rebuilding.

Do not worry about us, for those close to us know that meal prep was always our “side hustle” that unexpectedly exploded. Our consulting business has been thriving throughout. We are now returning to what truly makes us happy and what we excel at: NERD STUFF!

Deep in our bones, we now understand that life is indeed finite. To all our amazing Meal Prep Peeps, we owe you an immense debt of gratitude. You have made our dreams come true and taught us invaluable lessons that will last a lifetime. Thank you for your trust and support.

With love and gratitude to you all!

As my man Jay-Z says, it’s “ON TO THE NEXT ONE.”
